We make two oil cleansers, Replenishing Oil Cleanser and Pure + E.O. Free Oil Cleanser. Both cleansers are oil-based and the same formula but the Pure + E.O. Free Oil Cleanser is essential oil-free. This cleanser is for all skin types including even the most compromised, sensitized skin, and those who are inflamed or breakout-prone because it is free of ingredients that could impede the skin's ability to maintain its own lipid, essential fatty acid, and microbial balance. Replenishing Oil Cleanser is for normal, stable, dry, and aging skin or anyone who prefers to have the lovely smell of rose geranium and lavender which also have some therapeutic benefits for the skin.
Our cleansers utilize oils and gentle surfactants that leave the lipid barrier intact and preserved. Oils are the most effective way to penetrate congestion where it starts—at the base of the pores—without harming or drying out the skin. Rather than compromise the microbiome with the addition of preservatives, we encourage helper microflora to thrive by adding them to our formulas.
The purpose of a cleanser is to remove sunscreen, makeup, and debris, not to sterilize, dry, or strip the skin.
A morning cleanse is not necessary if you properly cleansed your skin the night before—simply rinse your face with water, alternating between warm and cold temperatures. Our cleaners do not remove the skin’s natural oils, so if you feel the need to cleanse more than once per day, you may do so without harm.
At night, shake cleanser well holding the nozzle closed with the thumb. Dispense one full pump and warm between hands and apply to dry skin. Using the first three fingers, draw small circles over the face/neck/chest to remove daily sunscreen, makeup and debris, adding water by getting the hands wet multiple times as needed while continuing to massage to create slip (1-2 min) until the cleanser can rinse thoroughly.
